Butter and Beans Rice

Ingredients

  • 4 cups
  •  Rice
  • ½ cup
  • Dried yellow split peas (Kala pare)(Garam Dhal), pre-socked in water for about 6 hours
  • 50 g Butter or Gee
  • 2 pieces Bay leaves
  • 2 pieces Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 tsp. each Salt & Sugar
  • ½ Onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup Green peas ( pour into the boiling water, stir about 1 min & drain)
Preparation

Heat butter in a large pan and fry the chopped onions about 30 sec., then add bay leaves & cinnamon sticks.

Add washed rice, water (twice the amount of rice), yellow peas, salt, sugar and cook it for about 15 mins. 

Remove from the heat & mix the hot rice with green peas & cover with lid for about 10 min before serving.

Serve with chicken curry. Serves 6.
